Drivers side rear door electric door lock will not lock. The same thing happened on the passengers side about two years ago.

When accelerating the vehicle quickly with the air conditioner on (does not matter if it's on fresh air intake or recirculating), there is a definite odor of gasoline exhaust in the cabin of the vehicle. The problem can be duplicated at any speed, from a dead stop or accelerating during a passing maneuver. The vehicle was taken to the local dealership and two technical bulletins were addressed (one for a vibration sound coming from under the hood which was repaired and the other for the exhaust odor in the cabin). Upon completion of the factory warrantied technical bulletins, the odor remained. Upon further review of the documentation, the wrong odor was addressed (radiator fluid, not gasoline exhaust). The odor is present regardless of burning 87 octane or e-85 fuel.

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 ford f-150. The contact stated that the running board on the vehicle were too narrow and slippery causing her to slip when trying to enter the vehicle. Ignition key will not turn in lock. Unable to start car. Wife stranded. Brought her other keys, same problem. Finally got lock to turn by viloently wiggling and pounding on key. Drove car home. Internet search seems to indicate this is a very common problem. We are the original vehicle purchasers.
2012 Ford Taurus - 1FAHP2JW0CG- Silver Spring, MD: August 28th, 2012
03/24/2012. 1st failure mileage approx. 1,450: driving on i-95s at approx. 70 mph, raining condition, wipers in use, headlights on. Suddenly the instrument panel lights went dark, wipers stopped in the middle of windshield, engine cut off. Was able to steer car from middle lane to road side and braked. Put car in park, lights still out, engine would not start. In less a minute, on the middle instrument gauge a green lighted message displayed: "power accessories... " for a very short time. Then car restarted. Ford services could not find any problem or error code. 08/04/2012. 2nd failure mileage approx. 5,360: nice hot day of summer. After stopping at a travel center parking lot, drove about 25 yards in the parking lot at approx. 10 mph, the instrument panel lights went out and the engine cut off. Car would not start in "neutral" but started in "park" position right away. Ford services could not find any problem or error code. In both incidents, the passenger was accessing the "multi-media console" for radio station or gps.

At 60,000 miles the car started chewing up tires and still is. The first set it did this to were worn to the wire under the rubber before it was noticed. It has chewed up two more sets since then all in under 10,000 miles and the tires are rated for approx. 50,000 miles.
2012 Ford Explorer - 1FMHK8D3CGA- Syosset, NY: August 28th, 2012
While the vehicle is moving, the power steering assist failed and the steering wheel becomes extremely difficult to turn. It is virtually impossible to turn the steering wheel, only with extreme difficulty and approximately a tenth of a mile of straight roadway was i able to steer the car to the shoulder. Turning the car off will temporarily re-engage the power steering. However, the problem continually re-occurs without any warning. The vehicle is not controllable at highway speeds or on curvy roads.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 ford focus. The contact stated that while parked the vehicle failed to start. The contact attempted to jump start the vehicle when she noticed sparks coming from the battery. Tl-the contact owns a 2007 ford f150. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted a gasoline fuel odor. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that the top of the fuel tank was separated from the bottom lining due to defective welding. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 07v278000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank). While driving the accelerator was racing so high,i turn off the engine then i start the engine it still racing. When i put in reverse then drive it stops racing it really scares me.

I was traveling approx 60mph when an alert from the dash sounded, the steering wheel vibrated and 2 messages appeared on the onboard messaging system: 1) "power steering assist fault" and 2) "service advance trac". At that time i lost all power steering ability. I am very fortunate that i was driving on a straight stretch of road at the time as i am unsure if i could have kept the vehicle from going off of the road. I pulled over at a gas station and turned the car off. I restarted the car approx 5 min later and it had no warnings and the power steering had been restored. The next day, the exact same thing happened, except i was going approx 10mph turning left into the ford dealership to let them look at this problem. They informed me today that they needed to order a new "rack" and that the part was "backordered" and had a delivery date of november (today's date is 8/27/12).
2011 Ford Edge - 2FMDK4KC4BB- Talbott, TN: August 27th, 2012
Driving at highway speed, engine shutdown and vehicle had immediate loss of power. No visible alert for surrounding traffic to avoid collision. Engine did not turn off, but acceleration was not possible. I turned the car completely off, waited a few minutes, restarted, and was able to proceed at normal speed onto the interstate before it occurred again. Dealership thought they had it fixed on monday. They said it was a computer communication issue and they reset it. Their test driver had to be towed back to the shop. Next day, they repeated yesterday's fix, told me to pick it up. I had a friend drive it, while i followed. We made it 5 miles before it shut down on the interstate during rush hour traffic. I used my truck to block traffic so we could make it to the median. Dealership had it towed back. One week later, the dealer says it's the throttle body, but are not confident it is safe to release, and are not positive that's the problem. I have read many blogs on ford's computer or fuel related issues that appear similar, yet with slightly different diagnosis. My concern is safety. I am looking for a safe vehicle i can trade with confidence that it will not cause the next owner to crash.

2007 Ford Edge - 2FMDK49C478- Philadelphia, PA: August 27th, 2012
My 2007 ford edge, began having problems with the transmission november 2011. While driving, pulling onto very busy highway, edge slipped into neutral. Numerous vehicles had to suddenly stop to prevent from crashing into me. Needless to say i was extremely upset, but also very thankful no one was injured. Now the problem begins. Notified chapman ford about this problem was told to bring in edge. Explained to service edge slipped into neutral, engine light came on along with wrench light. After pulling off to side of road still could not get car to move. I then turned car off for a minute or so, started up the car and it was fine. After a few days i received a call telling me it was the throttle body and would cost 674. 00 dollars since this was not covered under warranty. So, throttle body was replaced. Now my edge began having the exact same problem 1 month ago, was told now it was the transmission! Problem is warranty expired 1 month ago. Tired to explain had the problem been corrected the first time, transmission would have still been under warranty. Spoke with numerous people including ford, to be told the same thing "we can't help sorry your warranty expired". I am now driving my edge with fear this can happen at any time. It gives no warning what so ever, by the way my edge only has 28,000 miles and is very well maintained. I have seen many complaints about this problem, and ford does not seen to want to address the problem. Hopefully, no one will get seriously hurt and ford will stand by there edge! Thank you for your time, i hope this is helpful for others and this safety problem can be resolved.

While driving at 52 mph (pulling a small u-haul trailer) the left rear tire on my van suffered complete tread separation. The tread subsequently wrapped around the axle and had to be pried loose. The tread was whole and intact (a complete circle), but the carcass of the tire shredded. The tire is (was( a uniroyal lt 245/75 r16 approximately 4 years old. I managed to pull to the side of the freeway on my rim. This occurred on saturday, august 25.

My brakes have a very hard pedal from time to time. Requiring me to pump the brakes to stop. My ford dealer tells me it is the master cylinder and it will cost $3000. 00 to repair. They also state that they are not sure this will fix the problem. (remember this is a hybrid and brakes are different) second issue is the electric drive train does not allow the engine to shut down under 30 mph like it is supposed to due under 30 mph. At times this requires extra breaking because the engine does not idle down like it should. Ford seems to be aware of these problems. I found several complaints on the web describing the same problems. It seems ford has done very little to assist the customers, or to correct the problem.
